Meika B. Slotsema, Associate

Meika Slotsema joined Hoogendoorn & Talbot in December 2021, bringing over seventeen years of estate planning, estate administration, and non-profit experience. Meika considers estate planning “family planning” and works closely with each client to craft wills, trusts, and gifting strategies for their specific needs. Estate planning is for everyone and could mean a simple plan providing peace of mind and a road map for family to follow, or more complex wealth preservation or charitable giving strategies. She will work with you, your financial advisor, and other professionals to design a plan that will maximize tax savings and make the most of your life savings.

Meika started her career in private practice, always with a focus on estate planning and estate litigation matters. Immediately prior to joining the firm Meika worked in the non-profit sector, including running one of Chicago’s largest scholarship programs and in the general counsel’s office of one of the nation’s largest charitable organizations, the Alzheimer’s Association, overseeing planned gifts, charitable registration, and negotiating and drafting contracts.

Meika volunteers with Wills for Heroes and was previously on the board for Bright Promise Fund, the volunteer COO of Pivot Nonprofit Consulting, and on the Big Shoulders Fund Auxiliary Board, among other volunteer positions. When she is not volunteering, you can find her in her flower garden.
