Kevin J. Todd, Partner

Kevin Todd handles legal concerns across a broad spectrum, with most of these matters in three main areas. First, he brings nearly 30 years of experience to bear on commercial and tort-litigation cases. He carefully develops a litigation strategy focused on the client’s goals and within the client’s budget then pursues that strategy with the highest fidelity to his client’s goals and interests – whether it involves representing a U.S. Fortune 300 company, obtaining insurance coverage for a client paralyzed in a motorcycle accident, helping a faith-based group secure access to a public meeting space, obtaining court orders requiring the other party to pay his clients’ attorneys’ fees, or successfully defending a public agency in civil rights cases. This depth of experience has enabled Kevin to counsel his clients so they are often able to avoid or resolve disputes without the cost, delay and inconvenience of litigation.

Additionally, clients seek Kevin’s advice on contested estates and trusts and probate litigation. He represents individuals, corporate fiduciaries (such as banks and trust companies), charitable organizations in controversies involving wills, trusts and estates. For example, Kevin has achieved success for his clients in cases involving trust construction and reformation, improper overreach and influence of the individual who has died, situations of fiduciary breach of duty (or allegations of such conduct), or helping a charity or individual secure the intended gift.

Third, Kevin provides valuable counsel to not-for-profit organizations, helping visionary leaders develop a plan and implement it – from formation, through obtaining recognition of tax-exempt status, to ongoing counsel and compliance. Whether it’s a new church, or a para-church, social service, or educational organization, Kevin has had the privilege of helping such groups move from vision to reality.

Kevin believes that what makes a good lawyer – careful analysis, engagement, focus and pursuit of the goal, and the ability to work together to achieve a goal – also makes for good involvement in the organizations that shape our communities. Throughout his career he has served in leadership positions with charitable, civic and faith-based organizations that enrich the community.
